Hp probook fan always on

This takes away almost no performance but will often cause the fan to not run constantly. You can also set the system cooling policy to passive:. So if you set it to passive the system will try to control temperature with the processor rather than primarily with the fan.

Having said all this, you should not need to do all this on a new laptop. Try pulling out the accu while on AC-current, I've noticed that it is one of the temperature sensors is going funny.

When the accu is out of the laptop, close al your programs, make sure that windows is'nt doing anything important and pull the AC-cord. Didn't find what you were looking for? Ask the community. I have researched solutions and tried them all. I have vacuumed it, blown canned air thru it and even disassembled it to check for dust but there is none.

Changing Power Settings changes nothing. Turning CoolSense on and off changes nothing. What else can I do or check? Hope this helps! Again, switch to the "Performance" tab, and look to see which applications are using the highest amount of the CPU resource. Tell us what you see.I bought a HP ProBook s two weeks ago and I have noticed that the fan is constantly running at a high intensity. I can't find any settings for the fan and adjusting the power options didn't help either. I updated the BIOS and looked at the available settings in there as well but it does not show anything about fan settings. Furthermore, I downloaded Speedfan, but it doesn't allow me to regulate any fan settings either, it doesn't even detect a fan.

Speedfan shows that my computer temperature is around 30 degrees, which is not high enough temperature for the fan to be running at this intensity all the time. I had a Dell computer before and it never made this much noise at 30 degrees, the fan only started working more intensely at around 50 degrees.

So basically I was wondering is there any way for me to regulate my fan speed or is it really meant to run constantly at a high level on this model. I have the same problem. All drivers are updated and the version of bios is the latest F This is very annoying Does someone have a solution?

The tech support from HP seems not to be working and answer question which many users would like to have answer to I think I'll never choose notebook from HP again. No more HP products! I have the same problem,!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My new ProBook s is having the same issue. The fan is intense from the moment it is turned on. HP has been non-responsive so far.

Is this a defect in the product?

Message 1 of My cooling fan runs constantly, on high speed. The system is not overheating— it is blowing cool air.

The computer is running beautifully, does what I need, and I can't afford a new one now. Is there any work-around?

Perhaps an aftermarket thermal unit? Or is the existing thermal unit external to the processors and possible to replace by itself? Go to Solution. Thanks, I will look into updating the bios. Are there any problems or dangers involved in doing that that I should be aware of?

So, the new BIOS is installed, with no problems. Probably should have been done long ago anyway. Unfortunately it did not solve the problem. I guess at this point, we have to assume it's a hardware issue, and given the age of the computer, one I'll just have to live with. Didn't find what you were looking for? Did any hardware or software changes take place on the laptop? Is the laptop overheating? While you respond to that, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix:.

The charger must be connected until the BIOS update is successfully completed. The following steps should help:. By doing this, the fan will turn on only when required. I sincerely hope this fixes the issue.
